With Love from Beauty Camp

It's been close to two weeks that I've been in Beauty Camp. How fast time flies!

As most of you already know, Beauty Camp is made into a reality show showing us 19 finalists of Miss Universe Malaysia 2012 undergoing intense training to be the next Miss Universe Malaysia. Because it's a reality show, we've got to adhere to strict rules and regulations on the issue of posting up photos and announcing our activities to anyone before the next episode is out. ANDDDDDD that is why it takes time for me to update this blog.

Would love to do a day-to-day blog post update if I could cos it'll be so interesting to share with you guys what we do everyday! But for now, please bear with the minimal new entries unless you want to check out my page here and and look me up on Instagram (@luxanne) cos I update them with new pictures everyday!

Anyway, it's been a great 13 days here. Really tiring but I think we're getting the hang of it. The cameras are everywhere and I must give them credits for being so attentive in capturing our every movement, action and emotion!

Though at times we girls are annoyed by the close scrutiny of the cameramen with their cameras at inappropriate times, the show must go on. Beauty Camp has been receiving great response and I'm really happy for that. No joke to be on reality TV though!

As promised, a few more pictures of the house:

The BIG Move to Beauty Camp

As with moving, the headache starts from the packing and THINKING.......of what to pack. It was a major dilemma as I needed to pack for a whole month! It wasn't only the clothes that needed much thinking, how about toiletries, medication, essentials, handbags, accessories, shoes AND LUGGAGE SPACE???!!!

Can you now understand the terrible situation I was in? Oh, how stressful!

All the packing

Had two HUMONGOUS luggage, a duffel bag full with shoes, a laptop bag and a handbag to carry. How lah to manage?

Day 1 at Beauty Camp!

Gabriella, Cheryl, Jascinta, Sugeeta, Zana, Evelyn, Stephanie, Lu Xanne (Boon),
Deviyah, Jing Yi & Juanita

We were greeted with PERFECT weather

Parents, boyfriends, friends and family dropped their girls off. The atmosphere was pungent with anxiety, excitement and enthusiasm of what lay ahead for us girls.

After much waiting, we were given a briefing session by Kelly- our chaperone on what to expect in our stay at Beauty Camp.

  Briefing time!

And before we know it, it was time to see our house and grab our bedrooms!

SUPER EXCITED TO SEE OUR HOUSE!

The anticipation of seeing how our house looked like was crazy! We were waiting outside the door, giggling like a crazy bunch of hyenas, obviously not able to contain our excitement.

Even Marky and the camera crew were excited!

Anxiously waiting for us

Anddddddd... this is how my room looks like!

 With my roomie, Layka

Got the only room on the second floor and was really happy with it. The kitchen and living room was only outside our room door and our balcony opens up to the huge backyard!

Really nice.....

Took me much trouble to get all my luggage into the room

We even got a picture of a cute dog in our room!
Makes me miss my Stewie even more though =(

First thing to do- UNPACK!

Let me show you the nicest room in the house.....

The living room

What do you think? Will upload more pictures of the house soon, I promise!

Till then, better get some beauty sleep as we've got an event to attend tomorrow morning! Have a look out for us girls!

Update from Beauty Camp!

All I Need Is A Compass & A Map

The past week has seen me running around like a mad person trying to tick off items on my checklist before leaving for Beauty Camp (will explain Beauty Camp in detailed when the times comes! Stay tuned!).

There are work stuff to complete, necessities to buy, things to pack, reminders to be attended to, plannings to be thought of, people to meet, and so much more. Try saying all that in one breath! Phewww!

I was given this pretty storage box awhile ago but I couldn't quite think of what to use it for.

Now, I'm using it to store all the necessities that I've been buying before Beauty Camp!

That's my beloved dog, Stewie being nosy

Found this really adorable container that is practical as well

It gets a bit overwhelming really and I'll be honest by saying I haven't had good sleep for the past week as there are just so much going through my mind. This is a road not taken before and like any other times when you're not 100% sure of what's going to happen, you ask yourself, "What did I just get myself into?"

But as soon as that thought comes, I'm reminded instantaneously that I'm here and doing this because I'm challenging myself to achieve bigger things. Humans are never complacent, and I couldn't agree more.
Why does a millionaire still dream of making millions, or even billions when he's got more than enough to live a comfortable life? Why does a woman still buy mountains of clothes when she's got a whole cupboard-full of unworn ones? Why do we feel a sense of hopelessness even though an outsider will say we've got it good?

It's because things are stagnant, and we can never tolerate that. It's natural that we always strive to push ourselves further, perhaps to see how much more we can do.
And when we're actually successful in breaking through to the next level, we feel such a profound sense of accomplishment that it's hard to deny it almost feels like we're standing on top of the world at that very moment! What a FULFILLING feeling!

Yes, this is a road not taken before, but I'll use my map and compass to get me to my destination. Maybe, I'll even try the GPS.

And these are the love and encouragement from family, friends and supporters.

Love you guys to bits.

A Lifetime Experience Starts Now

New experiences are gathered everyday, but this time, this one needs to be carefully jotted down.

Just so I'll forever remember every second of it and pat myself on the back for taking that one step to materialize this childhood dream of mine.

A lot of thought has been put into starting this little space here.
A lot of thinking.
A lot of planning.
A LOT of sleepless nights.
And a LOT MORE doubts and self-inflicted apprehension.

But I suppose what I really want is a little place, a little space which I can call my own, where I can type, scribble, doodle, cut, copy and paste my journey and experience...... as one of the 19 finalists of Miss Universe Malaysia 2012.

I don't blame you for that recoil you just did. But if you perked up, thank you for that.

Understandably, there are people who don't look highly upon beauty pageants. Not sure why the bad rep, a social belief that people has conformed to I supposed.

And WHY did I want to join?
Well, I grew up chasing these beauty contest shows on TV (with my beloved mum) and there always seemed to be an air of excitement whenever the program is on. My mum and I subconsciously played both audience and judge and we'll comment on each contestant; how beautiful they are (physically), how nicely applied their makeup was, how prettily done their hair was, how gorgeous the evening gowns were, which girl walked better and why etc etc etc....
And I guess it was all these years of watching and commenting that made me ponder many times over what it'll really feel like to be one of those girls. I'm charmed by the way they always had to put the biggest and most dazzling smile on, amazed by how knowledgeable some of them are and mostly, fascinated by the confidence they exude on stage.

Countless times I've been asked by friends, what's the reason of me joining a beauty pageant. Some of them were just adorably curious but I did get a few that stated, "Why waste your brains on this!"

Well, it's a passion, a lifelong fantasy that I want to make real- a deep desire

And since when have we ever described 'desire' as being logical? To be more specific, I have a deep desire to be an inspiration to others.

That's what matters most to me. To be a role model for other people out there, to inspire and be inspired in return.

And at the end of it, I'll know that I've reached out to many out there and a part of me lives with them.

Because they came up to me and said, "Lu Xanne, you've inspired me today."

This blog started as a mark of a significant time in my life. The journey of the pageant is starting very soon and I would love to have more onboard with me.

Besides, I always believed, "The more, the MERRIER!"
